In support of World Mental Health Day, which is observed each year on October 10, Ninja Theory is donating all proceeds from today's sales of its most recent release, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, to charity.

As the developer announced on Twitter, all of today's profits will be given to Rethink Mental Illness, an English charity that provides support to those who are affected by mental illness. This applies to global sales on both PlayStation 4 and PC, Ninja Theory clarified, and only includes money the developer receives "from retailers/platforms from the sales."

The connection between Hellblade and mental health lies with its main character, Senua, who suffers from psychosis, a mental disorder described as a disconnection from reality. IGN's Hellblade review praised the way Ninja Theory handles mental illness, saying its "incredible atmospheric story reinforces Hellblade's serious subject matter."
