If it goes to plan, it represents a very interesting market change-up.

Let's say Xbox Next keeps this 4 year schedule, releasing in 2021. That might be a year or so after PS5. It will either be the most powerful at that time, or close to the PS5.

It will probably be $500 again, and would probably push for 4k/60. At the same time, the Xb1x continues to get 100% of all new releases. Most gamers wo not see much of a difference with the new console and the, by that time, much cheaper X. The OG Xb1 starts to see some titles unable to scale down, but still gets most games, just at lower settings. It will be 8 years old by that time afterall.

At that point in time, you will likely be able to find an Xbox console at either $500 for top end, ~$250-300 with checkerboarding for the X, or a base system @ $150 or so hitting sub-1080p for those on a smaller budget. Ca not afford to upgrade? No worries about missing out on the new releases.

All the same games, same Xbl, accessories, etc. The new system launches with thousands of games, and no more forcing a switch to new hardware when you are not ready.

I truly think this is a good plan that could be beneficial to a lot of different gamers. Now, will they do it? I am not sold yet....
