15 Games that were Delayed Out of 2017

From IGN - December 30, 2017
By Tom Marks

An absurd number of incredible games came out this year, so it seems crazy to think that there were supposed to be even more.

As 2017 began, we were expecting to get games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Shenmue 3, and even a new Toejam and Earl. Frankly, Im sort of glad we didnt given how big my 2017 backlog is without them. But here are 15 of the biggest games that got pushed to 2018.

Original launch window: The second half of 2017

New launch window: Q2 2018

Theres no other way to start this list than with Red Dead Redemption 2. People have been waiting on bated breath for more info - and while we thought wed get a release this year, we ended up only getting a brief gameplay trailer. It was originally supposed to come out in late 2017, but has been pushed to the second quarter of 2018.

Original launch window: November 2017

New launch window: The first half of 2018

Vampyr is a bit of a surprise, a dark action game coming from the developers of Life is Strange. We thought that surprise would come in November of 2017, but it got pushed back to the first half of 2018 before too long. Vampyr definitely looks interesting, so Im excited to finally have a chance to play it soon.

Original launch window: Early 2017

New launch window: 2018

Fans of the tabletop BattleTech game have been waiting for an official, turn-based adaptation for a very long time. BattleTech was originally funded on Kickstarter about two years ago and had an estimated release of early 2017, but its taken a bit longer than that. Its making great progress though, and I recently got a hands-on look at its out-of-combat systems, so we can expect the full thing before too long in 2018.

Original launch date: November 7, 2017

New launch window: Spring 2018

Crackdown 3 was originally supposed to be one of the Xbox One Xs flagship launch games, but couldnt make the cut and got delayed far past that window. Even though Crackdown 3 had a solid release date in November, it got pushed to the much more ambiguous Spring for 2018.

Original launch window: The second half of 2017

New launch window: Fall 2018

This isnt the first time Overkills The Walking Dead was delayed nearly a full year. It was originally slated for the end of 2016 before being pushed to the end of 2017, and then again to Fall of 2018. But the Payday-meets-zombies shooter now has its own Steam page, so it seems more solidly locked down for that release now.

Original launch window: 2017

New launch window: 2018

The long awaited and rather unexpected sequel got delayed toward the end of 2017, and from the sound of it, it wont be in the oven much longer. While the only window given is 2018, Toejam and Earl has already been playable at conventions since early 2017 and could just need a bit more time for finishing touches.

Original launch date: October 19, 2017

New launch window: Early 2018

Surprise announced at this years E3, Microsoft is making an HD remake of Age of Empires, looking to recreate the experience of the original while also making improvements. It originally had a solid date for October 19, but was delayed to early 2018 without a specific date.
